Reproductive health programs, capacity building for mother and child health centers (MCHs),training of traditional birth attendants (TBAs) and community health workers (CHWs),awareness raising on HIV/AIDS and other STDs, eradication of female genital mutilation (FGM/FGC), distribution of dignity sanitary pads and clean delivery kits (CDKs) for pregnant women. In Kobdhahed, Jedal, Gesaqabad and Tisjic villages of Bari region, HV supported trainings of local health staff and TBAs with funding from Somali Diaspora in Europe. Provision of health materials and hospital equipment donated by Sweden through Somali Diaspora to Ufeyn District health centers, MCHs and health posts. HV is currently focusing to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS in most remote districts of Bari and Karkaar regions namely KANDALA, ALULA, BENDERBAILA, ISKUSHUBAN, RAKO AND HAFUN with the support of PAC (PUNTLAND AIDS COMMISSION).
More recently, In partnership with ALIGHT (Formerly ARC), HV conducted awareness raising campaigns to educate the Puntland populace on the preventive and containment measures of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic in Bari Region of Puntland. During the campaigns provided Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) including face masks, hand-washing soap, gloves and hand-sanitizers. Distributed locally made hand-washing facilities with foot-operated pedals to avoid contacts with bare hands. Around 5,700 persons were reached.
How We Help
HV carried out the following health projects other than the emergency health responses mentioned earlier:
